Meet the Host
Hi there, my name is Susie. I am a mental health blogger, podcaster, and mental health therapist. I am a Licensed Clinical Social worker and have been working in the community mental health field for 8 years now. I am a first-generation Latina college grad with a passion for mental health. I am also mom to a beautiful smart 7-year-old daughter and dog mom to 2 Goldendoodles.
One thing I've learned working in the mental health field is that nobody is perfect. We all have a past and our own barriers to overcome. I grew up in South Los Angeles in a low-income mostly Latino and African American community. This is what motivated me to become interested in helping others because I witnessed and experienced firsthand the struggles of having limited resources. Not knowing any better and the stigma of asking for help when the odds are against you.

My professional work has also led me to work with individuals experiencing homelessness, severe mental illness, substance abuse, and undergoing crises

I want you to feel empowered and confident no matter what life throws your way. I am a believer that through our challenges we discover purpose and strength. I'm still on that journey and learning while I help others. Hopefully, we are able to connect through Mental Health-ish.
